Moving Numbers: Episodes 4, 5 & 6

Moving Numbers is an eight episode long political drama comedy series. It follows the hilariously dysfunctional campaign of Republican Congressman Robert Sanders (John Colton) for a senate seat for Pennsylvania. Congressman Sanders receives aid in his quest from characters including his Campaign Manager, Jason Mahoney (Peter McCain) and his loving wife, Beth (Monique Parent). The show’s title refers to a campaign’s goal – moving the poll numbers in their favor. The supporting cast includes everyone you’d expect to see in a political campaign, from campaign staffers and communications directors to pollsters and opposition researchers (the men and women who dig up the dirt on your political enemies) to advertising producers. The show, while fully scripted, has the feel of a zany reality show with ridiculous plotlines. The Pittsburgh Tribune Review described the show as “Primary Colors on steroids.” If you can’t get enough political excitement during the electoral off-season, Moving Numbers can help you get your political fix.

Moving Numbers: Episodes 1, 2 & 3

One of my favorite projects was a web series that I did called Moving Numbers about the behind the scenes of running a political campaign. Created by folks who run political campaigns. So it’s pretty darn entertaining! John Brabender (of BrabenderCox) created and wrote the series based on events and characters that he’s observed (and worked for) in dozens of real political campaigns.

The series follows the up-and-down campaign of Republican Congressman Bob Sanders and the characters who color campaign life. The first episode went online in late 2009 and focuses on a 60 day special election for U.S. Senate, from the ad-making process to the election night war room. It features tons of cameos from Pa. politicos.

Style Over Substance

A few weeks ago, a friend asked me to help him out with a video to show off a new camera that his company is offering. “Bring a bright colored dress and let’s do something film noir,” was all the direction I had…We just got together and played, which is always a fun way to create. You never know what you are going to get! It’s one of my favorite ways to shoot – both stills and film. Even when there is no actual production, it’s still fun to just let the magic happen!
