Red.

This week has been all about the color red. That wasn’t my plan. It’s just is how it happened!

I’m no longer going to call it a fashion fail if I am busy working from home and don’t get dressed up. I’m human. I’m allowed “jammie days”. I don’t have to beat myself up over it. Monday was a busy day right here at home making YouTube videos. This was one of them. Every once in a while my arthritis acts up and this was one  of those days. When you can’t walk and you can’t sit (it’s my hips) there’s nothing to do but take some ibuprofen and go be horizontal. At least I can work in my bed!!!!

Technically, also a fashion fail. I made this video wearing a comfy, strapless “wear around the house/pool” sorta dress. I have been resistant to wearing red lipstick, and decided it was high time to give it another go. The NYX Natural liner gave the red a deeper brownish tint that I wasn’t crazy about though it did stay on my lips all day. Then, my new bicycle arrived which you can check out in this video.

I liked the red lips in the video I shot the day before, but wanted to try a different lipliner, and I was much happier with the result. Here is the video I shot Wednesday, showing off my new signature color. Red. I haven’t owned much red in years, in fact, the only thing in my wardrobe that is a true red is a henley with a little silver sparkle in the buttons. You KNOW I paired it with yoga pants and sneakers, but I’m not calling it a fail as far as RutBusting goes because it was all about the new color.

I had an audition that specifically said to wear heels so I busted out these sky high red pumps. Paired them with my skinny jeans that I rolled up. I located anther red top that I own – a crimson tank and matching cardigan that I wore tied around my waist. I held up in the heels remarkably well, I thought (five hours) and then swapped them out with my Keds which were every bit as cute with the rolled up cuffs. Once the sun went down, I was mighty glad to have that cardigan. Met up with a girlfriend for a really awesome, spontaneous night out. We both do the car free thing and it’s really nice to have a friend who is also walk minded! IMG_3256

I was invited to the premiere of the movie Zoombies which was airing on Fuse TV and to promote it, they had a live screening which we were encouraged to do much live Tweeting about. Since the movie is about zoo animals becoming zombies, we had a dress code. Animal print. I tried on every variation of animal print I own and hated them all. The leopard prints seems too gold and the zebra jacket made me look like a streetwalker (all of the things I tried on are in the video – share my pain). I decided to hit a nearby thrift store just a couple hours before the event and boy, was I glad I did! The dress is Bebe and I got it for just $9.00!!! SCORE! I paired it with my Guess leopard heels, and embellished purse that featured leopard accents and my 15 year old Betsey Johnson coat that I call my “Disney Villianess” coat. You know how every once in a while you get it really right and feel amazing? This was that night for me! Check out the video.

Technically, another fashion fail. Yoga pants, T-shirt and sneakers is perfectly acceptable on the day you plan on putting together a bike and riding it for the first time in almost 40 years. I was too tired to go out Saturday night and cozied up on my sofa with the kitties and edited the video of Friday night’s event.

Sunday night I attended the Academy of Magical Arts Awards show, which was a lot of fun! The best magicians in the world celebrating the best of the best. It was an astounding show!!! I was still in the mood for red but was out of red clothes! I donned another Bebe dress, this time in a slinky turquoise satin and wore my red plaid Betsy Johnson coat over it – in fact, it was so cold, I ended up wearing the jacket all night and nobody ever saw this dress! I do love to clash so I paired it with the same red and leopard print heels from Friday night.

I’m sorry I don’t have as many links to offer you this week, but maybe you’ll be inspired to check out recycled clothes for yourself. Consignment stores are a terrific way to find new (to you) clothes affordably and also clear our your own gently used fashions. I am an Amazon Affiliate and if you choose to purchase anything from these links I provide (highlighted blue) I will earn a small commission. I tried to give you links to the actual items whenever possible, but since many of the pieces in my closet have been there for decades, many are suggestions to get the look with what is available now. Thanks!!!!moniquesig
